Want more time off?

With the Victoria Day weekend coming, it's an opportunity for everyone to try and get some time for themselves. Whether it's going to the cottage, taking a long trip, taking care of house projects, or just having a relaxing couple of days, long weekends are a great way to unwind from the stresses of work.

But did you know that Canadians rank dead last of all developed countries in terms of statutory holidays? Yup - we only have 9 all year. Most European nations have 20 or more, including Germany, which doesn't seem to be hurting economically these days.

Even Brazil and Venezeula are in the 20+ club!

We need more holidays. And I don't mean wishy-washy Family Day... real good holidays! Here are just a few ideas:

Snow Days. Sure, we get some here and there if the weather is bad, but why not an official week off in the middle of ...

Gotye's song Somebody that I Used to Know is a smash on YouTube: in fact, it's currently ranked 6th on the all time viewing list with over 198 Million Views!

Of course, success breed imitation. One of the most creative is this one by Walk Off the Earth.

And because nothing stays on YouTube long without being parodied, here's a hilarous twist on the above by Comedy Group the Key of Awesome.

Nickleback Ticket Info

It was announced this morning... Nickleback is headlining a big concert on Magnetic Hill this summer. This one's before the Boss comes to town - it's on Saturday July 7th. Along with Chad K and the gang, other bands include Three Days Grace, I Mother Earth, Arkells, My Darkest Days & Gloryhound.

Tickets for the Moncton Magnetic Hill tickets show go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m.at Moncton Coliseum Box Office - charge by phone 1 855-985-5000 or online at  www.ticketmaster.ca or www.tickets.moncton.ca.

Tickets are $69.50 (incl. taxes plus service charges), but there will be a limited number of Early bird tickets at $55.50 (incl. taxes plus service charges).

RIP Murray Lender

If you had a bagel for breakfast this morning, thank the guy on the right.

Murray Lender, the man who helped popularize the Bagel, passed away Saturday at the age of 81.

Why not have a schmear of cream cheese today in his honour?

Check your computer... or NO INTERNET FOR YOU!!

As I reported on the 5pm news, some computers may not be able to use the internet as of July 9th. The problem is an infection by a program called DNS Changer. There has been a temporary fix in place while security experts try to work a more permanent solution... you can have your computer checked and cleaned (if necessary) by visiting the site www.dcwg.org

Canuck Tech Tick Tock

A company started by a student at the University of Waterloo is developing a "smart" watch. It's a watch that connects to your smart phone, and not only tells time, but provides Caller ID, calendar updates, e-mails and a host of other services.

The company is called Pebble, and they may be onto something... they were looking to raise about 100 grand to start up production... they've already hit $4.5 million!

RIP Dick Clark

Sad news today, as the "World's Oldest Teenager" Dick Clark passed away today following a massive heart attack at the age of 82.

He was one of the hardest working guys in show business, producing (and often hosting) over 7,000 hours of programming, from American Bandstand to the gameshows $25,000 and $100,000 Pyramid to Bloopers & Practical Jokes (with Ed McMahon) and his annual New Year's Rockin' Eve and American Music Awards.

His smooth delivery influenced many a broadcaster.
