Bathurst Police Lead Investigators On Acadian Peninsula
7/9/2012
Bathurst Police are leading an investigation on the Acadian Peninsula stemming from the death of a suspect in custody.
A 43 year old Tracadie-Sheila man was arrested by police yesterday following complaints about an intoxicated man knocking on doors. The RCMP say he was taken into custody and released shortly before noon, but three hours later officers received a report that the same man was trying to break into a house.
He was arrested and taken back into custody.
The Mounties say that during a routine check, a guard noticed the man was unresponsive and officers tried to resuscitate him.
He was later taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
