Red Cross Looking For Bathurst Area Volunteers

Red Cross Bathurst The Canadian Red Cross is putting out the call for more volunteers in the Bathurst, Campbellton and Miramichi areas. The organization needs members for teams assisting people impacted by fires, floods and other emergencies or disasters. Next week the Red Cross will host a "Town Hall" style presentation and recruitment drive here in Bathurst at the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries building on King Ave (address 1425 King Ave).
Anyone 18 or older interested in learning more is welcome to attend from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Canadian Red Cross covers the costs of training, equipping and deploying its disaster volunteers to respond to events that can range from a residential fire affecting just a few people to major flooding impacting an entire community.
In 2011, the Red Cross had 111 of these response calls throughout New Brunswick, offering emergency assistance to more than 450 people.
