NB Professor Studying Habits of ``Monster``

7/30/2012

A New Brunswick professor is trying to solve the mystery of what he calls a ``monster`` pulled out of the Saint John River.

Dr. Matt Litvak is studying a creature that is drawing several reactions from people who've never seen one before.

``Shock`` and ``awe`` are a couple of descriptions of the Atlantic Sturgeon.

Litvak and his team are using high tech equipment to study its habits.

The creature produces caviar.

The team is also trying to figure out if the delicacy sold on the international market is from legal farmed sturgeon.

The biggest sturgeon ever caught in the province was 4 and a half meters long.

Scientists believe the ancient fish has not adapted since the days of the dinosaurs.
