Workers are being laid off at Halfmile Lake in the Bathurst Mining Camp.

Steve Stakiw of Corporate Communications says a skeleton crew will remain during a temporary shutdown.

He say the plan for parent company Trevali Mining is to advance development at Halfmile by properly positioning it to feed the Caribou Mill.

Stakiw says once that transaction is closed, it will give Travali stand-alone processing capabilities.

He says there are some active underground development crews remaining in the meantime.

Operations are expected to fully resume by mid-2013.
