The long weekend took a tragic turn in the Elgin area.
The body of a young woman was pulled from the river at Gordon Falls.
Rescue crews were called to the scene yesterday to retrieve the body discovered by children in the area.
Officials speculate the young woman was walking down the river when she got caught between some rocks and with the force of the waves it appears she was unable to free herself.
The local fire chief says the drowning may have happened overnight on Sunday.
The area that locals call 'very dangerous' is a popular party spot for teens and young adults.
The body has been turned over to the RCMP for identification.
The name of the victim has not been released
