Bathurst Doctor: Long Hours, More Patients Cause Burnouts
8/23/2012
A Bathurst doctor says new research demonstrates the undying commitment of medical professionals.
Data shows more and more doctors are burning out because of long hours and having an overwhelming number of patients.
Dr. Mahmoud Loubani says the shortage of medical professionals in Canada is taking its toll.
But most won't slow down because of the calling they have to make us feel better.
Loubani says he's no stranger to working around the clock, but he had to slow down a bit because he was becoming a stranger to his family.
Doctors in general internal medicine seem to have the highest burnout rate, as well as emergency room or family practice physicians.
