Acadie-Bathurst MP Continue to Push Back Against EI Reforms
7/9/2012

The Acadie Bathurst MP received a hero's welcome during a rally in Bathurst yesterday.
Yvon Godin led dozens of people on a march from the Holy Family Church to the federal building downtown.
The group called for a new prime minister and a new federal government because of the Harper Tories' views on EI reform. Seasonal workers say they are being unfairly targeted and people from this region say they are not about to lay down their guns. Ottawa wants recipients to accept job offers that pay as low as 70 percent of their previous wages. Employees could also be made to drive up to an hour to work everyday.
Godin was joined by other local politicians including the Bathurst MLA Brian Kenny, as the crowd repeatedly chanted Godin's name.
Those in attendance were extremely vocal, especially when Godin spoke of the federal government's attack on what he referred to as the Eastern Canadian lifestyle.
Godin was emotional during his speech and seemed exhausted afterwards. He says, however, he will never tire of holding Ottawa accountable.
