A veteran hunter from Bathurst says 12 year olds should be allowed to hunt.

Brian De Candido says the province in on the right track in considering lowering the legal age from 14.

He says he started hunting at 12, but it was illegal then.

But De Candido everything worked out well for him, so there shouldn't be problems for other youngsters.

He says it's a good idea as long as the youths take proper courses and they get a stern lesson in being responsible.

The province is consulting with the public before making any decisions.
