Health Framework Unveiled
The New Brunswick government will study the health-care needs of communities and create an electronic medical records system as part of ongoing efforts aimed at improving patient care.
The government released a 10-year framework Wednesday that it says serves as the foundation of a health-care system that will better meet the needs of communities.
Health Minister Madeleine Dube says it's a patient-focused strategy that includes a more collaborative approach by doctors, nurses, dieticians, social workers and other health-care providers.
One of the first goals is to complete 10 health needs assessments in communities around the province by spring 2014.
The government says it will also get feedback from patients on how health care is delivered in New Brunswick.
Dube says there have been demands for a more strategic, sustainable health-care system based on needs.
