Bathurst Councillor: Tough Competition For Provincial Road Work

8/22/2012

Bathurst City Councillor Danny Roy says the municipality is hungry for more road work.

But competition is tough, and there's not much to go around for everyone in the Province of New Brunswick's 7 million dollar account.

105 municipalities send in requests for what the communities call the 5 Year Priority List.

The list can add up to millions and officials realize the government will pick and choose what work should be done.

For example Bathurst has Brown's Bridge on Sunset as a priority-- that's about 6 million dollars worth of work alone.

Roy says all you can do is draw up the wishlist and hope for the best.

The Bathurst list also includes road work on Saint Peter and Murray Avenue.
